Me Made May Week 3

Hi there!

A slightly late post this week (although there’s a chance I may not have properly published last week’s post until about 5 minutes ago….😳) but here’s my round up of week 3 of Me Made May.

This week has been really busy: work is full on, I’ve had meetings at school outside of work and then my cousin from Australia was in the UK for work and came to stay for the weekend. Did the Me Made wardrobe cope?

Day 15 saw me unearthing an old Belcarra shirt to see whether or not it was still wearable. I was never thrilled with the neckline or my slightly crude adjustments to bring it in a little. However I think, on balance, I still like this, so it can remain!

Day 16 saw me working from home in another Agnes top. I see no end in sight to my obsession with this pattern and octopus print jersey only increases my happiness!

I also shared this honest shot of my very uncoordinated sewing attire: after a session of safeguarding training which brought back very unpleasant memories of jury service, I just needed to sew and be snuggly. Tilly to the rescue in Margot pyjamas and Stella hoody.

Day 17 and a slightly different jeans and jersey combo: the Jennifer Lauren Handmade Gable top in an Art Gallery Fabrics jersey. Love this colour so much and the style is great.

Day 18 and it’s Tilly again: this time my Agnes had flamingoes that glittered! Perfect for a day dashing about getting ready for my cousin’s visit and then spending 2 hours washing up plastic cups at the school film night ( yes my life is nothing but unending glamour!)

On Day 19 I took my cousin and fellow red head to York (she used to live there before emigrating) for a spot of sunny shopping. My new Deer and Doe Hoya in Castle print voile was perfect and felt great. Looking at it though I think a little popper hidden under the collar wouldn’t be the worst idea in the world!

I spent Day 20 ferrying my cousin around to see uncles on both of her sides of the family, catching a quiet drink in an empty pub beer garden en route and finishing at my parents house for tea. I got the chance to grab this gorgeous shot of us, my parents and my children in Mum’s beautiful garden. A Deer and Doe Datura I made last summer was perfect in the heat (did manage to burn my shoulder a bit; must apply suncream with more care!)

Day 21 involved interviews so I got the chance to bring my new Penny dress out again. The cotton lawn together with the buttoned up collar made it the perfect combo of cool but smart and I was thrilled to be wearing it again so soon.

So three weeks in, I’m happy with my pledge. I’ve been wearing more dresses and I’ve got some clearer ideas of what I need to make soon to fill some gaps. I’ve also accepted that my new migraine tablets have indeed increased my weight and I need to make some changes to my diet to try and counteract that a little as I don’t feel happy or comfortable with myself. I’ve been larger but that’s not the point: I don’t like being this size and there is room in my diet to make more sensible choices.

It might not have been the intended conclusion to draw from Me Made May but I think it’s a sensible one!

How are you getting on?
