Hope all’s well? It feels like Christmas is suddenly almost upon us so I’m rushing around from one child’s nativity to the next to parties to the school Christmas fair… and then there’s the little matter of gifts to make or buy. Panic stations everyone please!
But today’s make was well organised in advance and I’m extremely excited to share with you my very first make as a member of the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network. Their lovely fabric enabled me to make this brocade skirt using the Deer and Doe Chardon pattern for my work do: an added bonus was my being organised in advance for once, rather than hand stitching hems at midnight the night before!

Fabulous skirt! I’m just about to make my 3rd chardon, this one in wool. As the other two were cotton and stretch twill for the summer, they were unlined. When lining, did you opt for the pattern shape or a simple pencil skirt? I’m completely in 2 minds as the shape might require the lining to match but naturally, the less lining the better!

I went with the same pattern pieces, I did wonder about taking it slimmer but it’s not something I’d tried before and I decided I’d experiment on a different dress! I also didn’t want to lose that feeling of a full skirt by making too slim a lining. X

I think you’re right, it’s probably best! The skirt probably sits out too much to have the slim lining. 9 days to make it!!
