Indecision…

Hi there! I hope this finds you sitting in the sun with a nice cold drink, enjoying the incredible bank holiday weather? We’ve been out in the sun for some of the weekend, before total overload rendered the biggest girl in need of a day at home.

My plan yesterday was to wear this make for our trip to Fountains Abbey. I even stayed up late finishing the hems. And then it went a little wrong when I tried it on.

The make is the Paper Theory Zadie Jumpsuit. This wrap jumpsuit seems to have taken my Instagram feed by storm and I’d been itching to make it up. The Sew Together For Summer challenge merely bumped it up my list.

I wanted this to be a cool, breezy make and I’d really enjoyed working with the chambray I made my Vogue jumpsuit out of so had ordered some minty blue/green chambray from Fabrics Galore with this pattern in mind. The fabric is lush, handles beautifully and such a gorgeous colour.

There are already quite a few comments about the amount of ease in this pattern online so I sized down (as usual, I’m between sizes) and made my usual adjustment to add 1.5cm to the centre back rise. It wasn’t too painful to print and tile the pdf as there really aren’t that many pieces.

For some reason, I didn’t find this quite as straightforward as I should have done. It’s been a long week so maybe tiredness and stress factored in. I managed to get my wrap wrapping the wrong way (the opening is on my left not my right), I’m still not entirely clear on how I’m meant to get the bottom of the wrap lying entirely flat and I don’t think I quite attached the straps in the right place. But still, all in all it went together ok.

So I’m feeling quite happy about it, looking forward to being all cool in the heat when I tried it on for my family.

Who instantly asked when I’d taken up medicine as a career 🤦🏼‍♀️ Yes, it seems the beautiful colour combined with this style brings scrubs firmly to the forefront of a lot of minds. Mine included, if I’m honest.

I shared a shot on Instagram and was inundated with lovely comments (thank you all!). I decided to try wearing it today with the much suggested statement necklace and it was a little better than I thought. However, my eldest still referred to me as “nurse mummy” every time she spoke so I don’t think this is a comparison I’m going to get past any time soon!

I’m now contemplating the application of a Dylon dye pot; would it look less medical in navy, do you think?
