Free fabric!

Did the title grab your attention? Thought it might!

Those of you who follow me on Instagram will have seen that I’m now part of the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network. I am so beyond excited about this! I’m in some pretty esteemed company in there: check out the website and you’ll see a whole load of “proper” sewing bloggers, some of whom I’ve followed for a long time now, so I’m feeling very honoured.

The deal is that they send me through fabric, notions, pattern etc entirely of my choice within a budget each month and, in return, I make something out of all the lovely stuff and write a blog post for them about it. I’ll put a link to that post here too so you can read it if you like.

Seriously, how amazing is that?

Asked for my first 3 month’s wish list, I trundled off to the website armed with my autumn/winter to sew list. And I spent hours! It suddenly becomes overwhelming, rather like a rabbit in the headlights: which is just the right fabric? Which projects are very top of the list? Do I get pattern and fabric or just all the fabric?

My lovely bundle of fabrics and notions has now arrived and I’ve even finished the first one (can’t wait to show you, I’m so thrilled with it!)  My first post is due to go live on December 14th and to celebrate, Vicki at Minerva would like to send one of my readers a £50 fabric hamper, hand chosen by her. She will post worldwide so feel free to join in! And, having had a good look at the £100 bundle they donated to the Sew Up North raffle last week, believe me, you want this bundle!

In order to get your hands on the lovely fabric, trundle on over to the Minerva website and tell me what you’d do if you had a £30 budget to play with? Make sure I can get in touch with you if you are the winner; feel free to put your email in as e.g. Jane(dot)smith(at)hotmail(dot)com

In order to give Minerva lots of time to get the bundle to you before Christmas (because what better time to get a lovely big bundle for you rather than for you to give someone else? ) the competition closing date is November 17th.

  1. Congratulations on becoming a proper blogger!
It is a bit overwhelming with all their vast choice, but as I’m now in a new world with my babylock ovation I would spend £30 on several colours from their Metallic Lycra Stretch Dress Fabric collection and make some funky active wear!

  3. What a great news to have been selected for the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network. I’ve been following you for a while now and you make really nice garments. Thank you having a chance to win to share your membership in the Minerva Crafts Blogger Network. I would love to have the beautiful shell fabric. This would make a lovely blouse.

  4. Congrats, I love Minerva and have used them a few times, I love their cheap Lycra jersey so would get some of that along with some chambray for a Deer and Doe Bruyere. Lynseywelch(at)hotmail(dot)com

  5. How exciting! Can’t wait to see your first Minerva project 🙂
I would get the Blue Mauve Polyester Crepe Dress fabric (3 metres of it) and use it to make up the pattern I picked up in the pattern swap at Sew Up North! It’s a long dramatic duster/jacket (so great quality/plain fabric in the lovely blue mauve colour is perfect) with HUGE side splits.
    Fingers crossed 🙂

  8. Lovely news. I’m a poor little church mouse so anything is appreciated but I’m on a bent to create a capsule wardrobe. The Morris blazer is next on my list so some navy ponte is on my list

  9. Yup, totally got lost there for a bit. I think I would go very indulgent and get 3 meters of the Soft Luxurious Plain Stretch Liquid Velvet dress fabric in Ruby and a meter of the Guipure Leaf Lace Trimming in White to make a Christmas dress for me and Waterfall Raglans for Pie and Pop.

  10. What a lovely giveaway! And it’s worldwide?!? If that’s the case, I’d love, love, love to make a couple of Christmas items….pillows and an apron (for moi!); and they have a really sweet red/green thimble that caught my eye. Oh it was difficult to close that site…..
And heartiest congrats on becoming part of the Minerva Network – you are in with some very fine sewists!
