“I, Becca of www.redwsews.wordpress.com @redwsews, sign up as a participant of Me-Made-May ’16. I endeavour to wear me made garments 6 days out of 7 for the duration of May 2016.
Really looking forward to this!”
Just a quick post to thoroughly commit to taking part in Me Made May 2016. If you haven’t fallen over this challenge before, hop on over to Zoe’s blog for the details. Basically, this is a one month long challenge to encourage you to get the most out of your me made wardrobe.
Last year I took part for the first time and pledged to wear me-made 4 days a week. I’ve upped it to 6 this year which I think is likely to be quite a challenge for me.
For anyone looking at my makes page and thinking I’m exaggerating, there are two things that mean I’m not. Firstly, I’ve dropped 2 dress sizes since this time last year so a lot of last year’s makes just don’t fit any more. Secondly, the majority of my makes are more formal or summer wear. These are great for the office but I now work a day a week at home, so I’m only in the office 3 days a week. So those extra three days are going to be a stretch!
Having said that, I’m looking forward to that stretch. Whilst Zoe is absolutely adamant that this is not about panic sewing, I’m hoping it will be the encouragement I need to focus on the casual clothing (and that overlocker!) and to persuade me to carve out half an hour here or there most days to sew. I know that I feel so much better in myself when I do, sometimes we need a little push!
I’m really looking forward to taking part in this again this year, there is always a great sense of community on Instagram and I get so much inspiration (not sure my bank balance loves it though!)
Hope to see you there!
Becca x
I should have committed when I blogged today but am still considering my commitment. Not long blogging so I don’t have a lot to offer but the challenge is personal and I am well behind you. You are inspiring so I WILL commit next blog. Thanks for that K xXx

I genuinely enjoyed it last year: it was when I really realised how much better I felt wearing things I’d made myself instead of RTW. X

Well done you! I must sign up too. I have the same challenge as you – I’m working at home all the time at the moment (on sabbatical for a semester) and it’s really forcing me to think about what I want to make and wear at home!

It’s tough isn’t it; I found the same thing when I was on maternity leave, except then I was factoring in easily washable and able to crawl round on the floor in! I’m starting with some slightly smarter tops and trying not to just sew pretty dresses all the time; so much fun to sew, so not worn much outside work

Excellent! That does sound tricky, sewing a few basics might be the key. I’ve signed up too, my first time actually. My pledge is wearing something everyday which will be a challenge I think. I shall not panic sew but will definitely focus my April makes a little more. Looking forward to it! Although I’m still undecided on whether I’ll post on Instagram everyday, perhaps just weekly summaries.

I think I’ll see how I get on with Instagram, I posted each day last time but that was only 4 days a week! But then I really enjoyed seeing everyone else’s outfits so maybe I will. There’s always the collage approach if needs be!

I’m in too! It might be difficult taking photos every day, and I might just post a week’s worth at a time. I’m looking forward to seeing everyone’s Makes though!
